Big news for fight fans in the islands! According to a recent Reuters report, Governor Josh Green is in talks with UFC President Dana White about making Hawaii more than just a dream destination — but a UFC destination.
Here’s the scoop: the new Aloha Stadium Entertainment District (set to open in 2029) is being designed as a sports-and-entertainment hub with retail, hotels, housing, and of course, a brand-new stadium. Governor Green floated the idea of UFC becoming an anchor tenant — complete with the possibility of building a UFC Performance Institute right in the district.
Why does this matter?
Hawaii could host regular UFC events, not just one-offs.
Local fighters and athletes might get world-class training without leaving home.
Fans? We’d finally see fight nights with an ocean breeze.
Of course, there are hurdles — weather, logistics, and the wait until 2029. But if the partnership happens, Hawaii could become the UFC’s ultimate fight island.
What do you think — would you buy tickets to the first Aloha Stadium UFC event?
